What You Need to Know About ADR Plates

ADR is short for European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road and describes the requirements for transporting hazardous materials.

There are different kind of ADR plates: a) blank plates and b) plates with numbers. Both plates are orange.

a) Blank plates are used if the dangerous goods are packed for road transport, for example in boxes or other containers.

b) If the freight is transported as unpacked bulk cargo, the hazard identification number placard is required. The first number is the hazard identification number (formerly called Kemler number), which informs about essential characteristics of the freight, e. g. no. 33 indicates a highly flammable liquid (flash point below 21° C). The second number is called UN Number and specifies the hazardous material. In case of an accident, rescue services know immediately what kind of hazardous material they are dealing with.

All our ADR panels are based on a reflective film with glass beads construction, which is graded reflectivity class RA1/A. Therefore, the panels can be seen better at night or in poor light conditions.
